Look for the positives...

6:20 a.m. the alarm went off. I hit the snooze button and 10 minutes later there was ringing again in my ears. I got out of bed, got dressed and put on my trainers. For the past 5 months 3 mornings a week I have been meeting Carol at 7 a.m. come rain, hail or shine to walk / run in at attempt to try and regain some fitness. Some mornings it's hard work getting up. Today was one of them. But as I left the house I thought at least tomorrow I'm not in work so I can have a lie in. That thought kept me going all day :-)

After what turned out to be a really busy day, I popped over to my parents to see them and there was a knock on the door. Two blokes were passing by and had noticed that my car was leaking. I rang the RAC man who came out quickly. He informed me that I had a leak in the water pump, and there was absolutely nothing left in the radiator. He made a temporary repair but said that I would need to get it fixed asap - so that would be tomorrow then!

It has to be said I was really peeved with the whole situation, I was looking forward to a lie in and then was planning to potter somewhere 'nice', now I was going to have to get up early to get my car to the garage and then be carless for the day.

But then when I thought about it, how ungrateful was I....

Here were 2 blokes kindly knocking to inform me of a problem which I would probably have never noticed. The damage I'm sure would have been much greater the longer it was left. Probably costing more to fix as well.

I was at my parent's house and not stuck on the M6 when the problem came to my attention.

Actually it would have been so much more inconvenient if it happened on a work day and I had to rearrange groups / meetings etc. And I'm not in work on Saturday so I can still do something then.

So, whilst it is a little bit inconvenient, it's not actually that bad!

And then just when I was thinking about it all, my mum very kindly offered to pay.

Back from the Wild West

If you're thinking as you look through the photos below, were there any members on camp coz there's none in the photos, that's because as leaders we're not allowed to upload photos onto public sites like blogs and facebook. But there were members there, it wasn't just a jolly for leaders, although I did have loads and loads of fun!!!! :-)

I love camp! Simple as that!

Learning the Cha-cha

Me rockclimbing! Well actually just posing for the photo as we were wating for the members who were scrambling through some rocks!

Then it started to rain. Pleasant!

But thankfully one of the instructors had a survival thing called 'a slug' which he let me and Zoe use. It's bascially like a big parachute which you throw up and then move under and sit on the edges.

Here's Zoe and me surviving in the slug...

Sheriff Simon, one of the overall leaders...

...was unfortunately shot!

"Who shot the sheriff?" Looking for potential suspects in Harrogate, featured below...

Amusing ourselves whilst the members were sailing...

Carl, aka 'Chief Snoozing Badger' giving the daily report during evening entz. The leader who had done the most ridiculous thing during the day had to do the rain dance.

Very, very funny, I am just smiling as I reminisce :-)

Chief Snoozing Badger's wife...

We had our own version of "The Apprentice" on camp "The Cowboy Apprentice". Sheriff Al Ansugar was looking for a new cowboy apprentice. One of the tasks was to dance. Seonaid choose JT to help her complete the task...considering JT's previous dance talents seen on camp was this a wise choice we all asked? As you can see Sir Al Ansugar and the judges are not looking too impressed in the background :-) The rest of us loved it!!!

Dan and Viv did somewhat better!

Another year, another camp. Full of good memories. Roll on camp 2009...
