Look for the positives...
6:20 a.m. the alarm went off. I hit the snooze button and 10 minutes later there was ringing again in my ears. I got out of bed, got dressed and put on my trainers. For the past 5 months 3 mornings a week I have been meeting Carol at 7 a.m. come rain, hail or shine to walk / run in at attempt to try and regain some fitness. Some mornings it's hard work getting up. Today was one of them. But as I left the house I thought at least tomorrow I'm not in work so I can have a lie in. That thought kept me going all day :-)
After what turned out to be a really busy day, I popped over to my parents to see them and there was a knock on the door. Two blokes were passing by and had noticed that my car was leaking. I rang the RAC man who came out quickly. He informed me that I had a leak in the water pump, and there was absolutely nothing left in the radiator. He made a temporary repair but said that I would need to get it fixed asap - so that would be tomorrow then!
It has to be said I was really peeved with the whole situation, I was looking forward to a lie in and then was planning to potter somewhere 'nice', now I was going to have to get up early to get my car to the garage and then be carless for the day.
But then when I thought about it, how ungrateful was I....
Here were 2 blokes kindly knocking to inform me of a problem which I would probably have never noticed. The damage I'm sure would have been much greater the longer it was left. Probably costing more to fix as well.
I was at my parent's house and not stuck on the M6 when the problem came to my attention.
Actually it would have been so much more inconvenient if it happened on a work day and I had to rearrange groups / meetings etc. And I'm not in work on Saturday so I can still do something then.
So, whilst it is a little bit inconvenient, it's not actually that bad!
And then just when I was thinking about it all, my mum very kindly offered to pay.

Hooray for nice men and the RAC and your mum! Hope it all got sorted okay.
Did I tell you about my car nightmares on the journey up to Scotland? I got it to where I was staying overnight on the way and it started making a funny noise, so I took it to a garage the next morning just in case. They took one look and declared it too dangerous even for a road test! Both brake pads were completely worn away!!
I was just so overwhelmingly grateful that I hadn't suddenly found myself on the motorway with no brakes and that I'd bothered to get the noise checked out. And actually it was fine. They fixed it by 2pm and I spent the morning at the National Trust property 5 minutes walk up the road. They also fixed a slow puncture I hadn't even noticed!
Glad you booked your flight for March 2009. Looking forward to seeing you.
evo, no update for a while! The U.S. needs to know what is going on in Evoland!
